About The Council
Following the enactment of the West African Examinations Council Ordinances in 1951 by the governments of Ghana (then known as the Gold Coast), Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia, the West African Examinations Council was founded in 1952 as a non-profit organisation with its headquarters located in Accra, Ghana. In 1974, Liberia was admitted as the fifth member of the Council. The Jeffrey Report, which firmly backed the idea of creating a regional examining board to harmonise and standardise pre-university evaluation processes across what was then British West Africa, served as the foundation for the Ordinances’ passage.
Your Obligation:
The successful applicant will report to the Head, Legal Department and will be required to perform the following duties among others:
- Undertake due diligence compliance tasks assigned.
- Conduct legal research on matters required.
- Ensure conformity with statutory government practices.
- Provide advisory services on legal matters.
- Assist in the development of guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Perform legal vetting of documents and commercial contracts.
- Conduct risk analysis and mitigation.
- Represents the Council in court and before quasi-judicial bodies.
Background:
- Possess a minimum of Bachelor of Law degree from a recognized University.
- Be a member of Ghana Bar Association
- Have at least five years of relevant pre/post qualification experience in the assessment industry
Salaries and Conditions of Service:
